I remember when the movie “The Secret” first came out in 2006. Maybe that was what sparked my interest in all this “mind stuff” because I must have watched it dozens of times.
And I mean the 1st version with Esther Hicks, not the edited one that came out later that cut her out. I still have a bootleg copy of that 1st video somewhere.
And if you didn’t know - they also made a sequel called “Dare to Dream” which is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s on Netflix right now if you haven’t seen it. And it’s more of a movie - not a documentary like the 1st one.
I was surprised when I brought this up in a Zoom meeting, that so many of my BNV Community Members like this sort of thing as much as I do. Maybe that’s why were together - we attracted each other. 😍
But I know there are a lot of people who laugh at this stuff too, the same way they laugh at the way I (we) eat (plant-based vegan). That’s ok. I know for a fact that my way of EATING is backed by hard science. But what about this way of THINKING?
I truly think THAT … is backed by science too.
Placebos for example. In one study, 180 patients who had arthroscopic knee surgery were divided into 3 groups.
One group had worn knee cartilage scraped and cut away (debridement).
The second group had arthroscopic “lavage”, in which the bad cartilage is flushed out.
The third group had simulated arthroscopic surgery; small incisions were made, but no instruments were inserted and no cartilage was removed!
Since their view was obstructed - they watched their surgery on a TV monitor via a camera.Only it wasn’t a camera - they were watching a prerecorded video of someone else's surgery … while thinking they were watching their own.
During two years of follow-up, patients in all three groups reported moderate improvements in pain and ability to function. However, neither of the intervention groups reported less pain or better function than the placebo group. Indeed, the placebo patients reported better outcomes than the debridement patients at certain points during follow-up. Throughout the two years, the patients were unaware of whether they had received real or placebo surgery.

The people who THOUGHT they had surgery did better than the people who did??
This is the kind of stuff that gets me excited and why I started that very first blog. If I can remember all of the stories I covered in that blog I will rewrite them here.
To everyone who is following me - I truly hope you find this subject as fascinating as I do.
